Bharat Electronics Teams Up With Esri India on Defence Programmes.
Geographic information systems (GIS) company Esri India recently said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Navratna public sector enterprise Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) to collaborate on defence projects involving geographic information systems, location intelligence and GeoAI.
The partnership aims to strengthen the companies' collaboration in developing advanced geospatial solutions for India's defence sector. BEL and Esri India have previously worked together on projects for the Indian armed forces, and the new agreement is expected to expand the scope of their engagement.
The collaboration will focus on leveraging GIS, location intelligence and artificial intelligence-driven geospatial technologies to support defence programmes and enhance operational capabilities.
"Geospatial intelligence has evolved from being a support capability to becoming a strategic decision advantage in defence, enabling commanders to see, analyse and respond with greater speed and precision," said Agendra Kumar, Managing Director of Esri India.
The company said the agreement underscores the growing role of geospatial technologies in defence planning and operations, where real-time situational awareness and data-driven decision-making are becoming increasingly critical.
