Bridgestone ramps up operations at Pune plant.
Encouraged by the growth in the replacement radial tyre market, Bridgestone India is ramping up operations in its new plant at Pune.
The Indian subsidiary of the global tyre major, Bridgestone Corporation, is aiming at a production of 10,000 units of passenger car radials and 1000 units of truck and bus radials by the end of 2015.
Declining to give any figures Bridgestone India managing director Tomio Fukuzumi said, the company is a top player in the replacement radial tyres of passenger cars in the country. 'We are doing well in the replacement radial tyres. The slowdown in the automobile market has affected sales in OEM segment,' he said.
At present, Bridgestone India is supplying tyres mainly from its Indore plant, which has a daily capacity of 15,000 units of passenger car radials and 400 units of truck and bus radials.
