Bus terminal project on the cards.

A totally new project for the decades-old dream of a bus terminal adjacent to Tripunithura Railway Station is on the cards.

Chandrika Devi, chairperson of Tripunithura municipal council, told The Hindu that a new consultant had approached the municipality and the project was interesting as it would be a people’s participatory venture.

The municipality had asked the consultants to submit a detailed project report soon so that the governing council could study it and present it to all members of the council for opinions.

The project has been hanging fire for more than 20 years. Though the last council had tried to solve the land acquisition issue, there were still a few important hitches. She said the new project was an attempt to iron out these hitches and make people participate in the project.

The bus terminal is expected to be funded by both the State and the Union governments.
