Cabinet okays Rs.20 crore for Kundannoor flyover.

Paving the way for its early implementation, the State Cabinet recently approved a sum of Rs.20 crore for the construction of the Kundannoor flyover.

The assurance in this regard was given during the reply speech by Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac in the Cabinet. But no funds have been allocated for the flyover at the busy Vyttila Junction, proposed together with the Kundannoor project.

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had laid the foundation stone for the six-lane flyovers costing Rs. 185 crore at Vyttila and Kundannoor on the National Highway 47 bypass in February last.

The flyovers, aimed to ensure hassle-free travel along the Aroor-Edappally routes, were expected to be commissioned by September 2017.

The design for the Kundannoor flyover includes side roads, which will help ease traffic movement. The existing underpass would be further developed so that vehicles coming from Aroor and Vyttila could easily go to Thripunithura and Willingdon Island without getting caught in traffic signals.
