CONCOR to set up Rs. 450 cr multi-modal logistics park at Kakinada.

Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, is all poised to develop a Multi-modal Logistic Park at Kakinada Port with an investment of about Rs. 450 crore.

Towards facilitating the setting up of the logistics park, the Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 89.35 acres of land to CONCOR on lease for 60 years at Rs. 100 per acre per annum adjacent the Kakinada port in the State. The project is expected to generate 120 direct and about 2000 indirect jobs.

The multi-model park is aimed at serving as a Container Freight Station to cater to the exports of containerised cargo through the Kakinada port. The logistics park will see the development of infrastructure including rail sidings for handling railway racks, creation of custom bonded warehouses, domestic warehouses, fully paved container stack yards, container cargo handling equipment and a customer facilitation centre.

The vacant land which runs parallel to the track between Kakinada Port railway station and Kakinada port take off point and the land reclaimed between the proposed berth 7 of deep water port and beach road has now been allotted.

Ajay Jain, Secretary, State Industries, Infrastructure and Energy, has directed the Director of Ports, to make necessary arrangement and allot the land which would facilitate the setting of the logistics park.

The State government is seeking to provide thrust to the growth of the logistics business on the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor.
