Construction for Tirupur medical college begins.

Preliminary work for construction of government medical college in Tirupur has commenced.

The medical college coming up in an area of 11.28 hectares at Nallur village abutting Tirurpur city would be built at a cost ofRs. 336 crore. Over the past few days, workers have started building allied structures before they commence construction of the main building.

It was on May 18 Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami laid the foundation stone for the government medical college through video conferencing from Chennai. Though the government wanted to begin the project much earlier, there was a minor delay due to Covid situation. The medical college was part of the 11 such colleges announced by the state government in 2019.

The medical college which will offer 150 seats, is expected to be completed soon since the state government has already allotted Rs. 100 crore for the construction.
