Cytogenetic lab set up at AIIMS Raipur.

Claimed to be first of its kind in government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh, Cytogenetic lab was set up at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur on the occasion of World Anatomy Day recently.

The new lab will be helpful in the diagnosis of trisomy abnormalities, including down syndrome, patau syndrome, and other severe disorders during the prenatal genetic and chromosome disorder diagnosis, as per the release.

Director AIIMs-R Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M Nagarkar said there was a need to diagnose prenatal genetic and chromosome disorders in Chhattisgarh. The newly established Cytogenetic lab equipped with a fish lab, PCR, and culture lab will certainly help patients get expert consultation at Raipur. Now, they don't need to go to metro cities for lab tests.
