DP World Launches Rail-Led Multi-Modal Service Connecting Gujarat to NCR.
Dubai-based logistics operator DP World announced the launch of its rail-led multi-modal service, SARAL-3, on Monday, connecting Gandhidham in Gujarat to the National Capital Region (NCR). The new service, part of the company’s "Sustainable, Assured, Reliable, and Agile Logistics" (SARAL) initiative, features a dedicated container train departing from Bhimasar, Gandhidham every weekend.
The service will reach Pali-Rewari in Haryana within three days and offers an additional option to connect to Panipat or Modinagar Inland Container Depot (ICD) within six days, according to the company’s statement.
Speaking at the launch, Adhendru Jain, Vice President of DP World Subcontinent Rail and Inland Terminals, highlighted the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability and investing in future-ready infrastructure to support businesses in accessing new markets amid a rapidly changing trade landscape.
DP World operates over 100 container rakes and Special Freight Train Operator (SFTO) rakes, along with more than 16,000 containers and trailers for last-mile delivery.
In December 2024, the company completed a third rail line at its Pali-Rewari terminal in Haryana, increasing the terminal's monthly freight handling capacity by 25%. The new rail service is also in line with DP World’s sustainability goals, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70%, the statement concluded.
