DP World to Accelerate Cargo Movement with New Domestic Rail Services Between Gujarat and West Bengal.

DP World, a key player in India's private freight sector, has launched two new domestic rail services aimed at boosting cargo movement between the country's western and eastern regions. The new routes connect Bhimasar and Hazira in Gujarat with Kolkata in West Bengal

The new services are designed to speed up cargo movements between Gujarat’s major manufacturing centers and eastern India’s key trade hubs.

The Bhimasar–Kolkata service will run twice a month, offering an 8-day transit time and a capacity of 90 TEUs. The Hazira–Kolkata service will also operate twice a month, with a slightly faster transit time of 7 days and the same capacity. These routes are expected to transport a diverse range of goods, including edible oils, chemicals, steel, industrial goods, food grains, and salt.

Adhendru Jain, Vice President, Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World Subcontinent, stated, "These new services bridge two vital economic corridors: Gujarat’s dynamic manufacturing base and Kolkata’s role as a gateway to East and Northeast India." He added that by improving connectivity, the company is enabling "the smoother movement of goods…supporting more agile supply chains and regional integration."
