Drainage project to be completed soon.

Minister for Urban Development, Haj and Wakf R. Roshan Baig said that the underground drainage project taken up at a cost of ₹360 crore would be completed shortly. Speaking to media representatives at district administrative complex here on Monday, Mr. Baig said that 90% of the work had been completed.

He said that funds were pooled from different sources — ₹141 crore from the State government, Kalaburagi City Corporation and Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board combined, ₹192 crore from Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and ₹27 crore from Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka “Once completed, the enture city will come under the underground drainage system,” Mr. Baig said.

Mr. Baig said that round-the-clock drinking water supply project was in force completely at four wards and partially at another seven wards. “We want to extend 24x7 drinking water supply project to remaining 44 wards with the financial aid of ₹500 crore from World Bank. Tender process is under way,” he said. The Minister added that his department had planned to build a swimming pool near S.M. Pundit Rangamandir at a cost of ₹3 crore.

Earlier, Mr. Baig held a meeting of officers to review the progress of various schemes and projects taken up by his department.

Kalaburagi Mayor Sharan Kumar Modi, Kalaburagi Development Authority chairman Asgar Chulbul, Deputy Commissioner Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh, City Corporation Commissioner P. Sunilkumar and others were present.
