Elecon Eng wins Rs. 225 cr contract from Garden Reach.

Elecon Engineering Company has won a Rs 225 crore contract from Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders for gearboxes.

'The company has been awarded a prestigious order from Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd for supply of marine gearboxes,' Elecon Engineering said in a BSE filing.

It said the size of the contract is worth Rs 225 crore.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is the warship building company in India, under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence.

GRSE since 1960, has built 95 warships and in addition has also built and supplied close to 700 vessels to carry men and materials as well as for surveillance of the Coast Line by the Police Forces.

Apart from ship building and ship repair, GRSE is one of the few versatile shipyards having its own Engineering and Engine Division.
