Expedite Clearances for IT SEZ Project: Prem.

Wipro chairman Azim Premji has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to expedite various clearances required for the IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project being implemented by the IT giant in Bangalore. Premji, who met Siddaramaiah recently drew the CM's attention to delays in clearances from Forest and Environment Departments, apart from a few pending approvals from the Bangalore Development Authority for the IT SEZ project that has been planned at Kodathi Halli village on Sarjapur Road.

'The project will provide employment opportunities for about 25,000 people in the first phase,' Siddaramaiah told reporters after the meeting.

The company has the land required for the project, he said and added that the government would speed up the required clearances for the project.

Premji refused to speak to the media.
