Foundation stone to be laid for Butibori power project
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Ashok Chavan will be laying the foundation stone for Reliance Power's 300-MW Butibori thermal power project this week-end.
The ceremony will be presided by Union Minister of Power, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, a company release said.
Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Mr Vilas Muttemwar and Minister of Energy, Maharashtra, Mr Sunil Tatkare would be the guests of honour, it said.
This infusion will negate the prevailing deficit of around 21 per cent, the release said, adding that the project is scheduled for commissioning in the second quarter of 2011 and will feed around 2,000 MUs to the state.
The project is being developed on a fast-track basis, and once commissioned would bring some relief to the power-deficit situation besides providing cheap and reliable power to the different category of consumers across the state, it said.
The power from the company will be supplied to nearly 200 companies mainly in Butibori, Hingna, and other nearby industrial areas. Additional power available will be supplied to other industrial units across the state, it added.
