Fresh tender to build Shivaji memorial likely, HC told.

The state government recently told the Bombay high court that it was considering whether to issue a fresh tender for construction of the offshore memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

A division bench of Justice S J Vazifdar and Justice Anil Menon was informed by advocate general Darius Khambata during hearing of a petition. Team One Architects India Private Limited, whose proposal was rejected after being declared the winning design, moved the HC to restrain the government from implementing any other design.

Khambata submitted that the government was considering re-tendering as it received poor response earlier. 'We got only one bid. We are taking a decision whether there will be a re-bid,' he said, adding that it will not affect this petition.

He also informed that the project is completely different. 'The case is that no memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji can be put up unless it is their design. We'll meet that (argument),' he added.
