Geojit to Establish Centre of Excellence in Sustainability at Cusat

Geojit Financial Services Ltd is making significant strides in fostering sustainability with the establishment of a groundbreaking Centre of Excellence at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat). The University Syndicate has greenlit the proposal for the Geojit Cusat Centre of Sustainability Studies (GCCOSS), marking a milestone in one of the most substantial industry-academia collaborations in Kerala.

Aligned with Geojit's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles, which emphasize resource optimization to uplift the marginalized segments of society, the GCCOSS will dedicate its efforts to promoting the well-being of individuals, environmental sustainability, and economically viable practices. Geojit has pledged an endowment of ₹5 crore over a span of four years to support the center's initiatives.

The GCCOSS, boasting six focus areas—Research, Academics, Consulting, Capacity Building, Innovation, and Certifications—strives to become an autonomous hub for nurturing scientists and entrepreneurs of the highest caliber. The center's global collaborations aim to produce top-tier research, academic excellence, and technological innovations.

As Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals gain prominence globally, the GCCOSS, leveraging Cusat's diverse expertise, is poised to contribute significantly to research on policy, strategy, and operational aspects of ESG at governmental and corporate levels. The center's activities are anticipated to elevate Kerala's iconic status in the global sustainable development arena.

To actualize its objectives, the GCCOSS plans to develop comprehensive courses and programs focused on sustainability, including specialized offerings in climate change, circular economy, and sustainable supply chain management. The center will also serve as an innovation hub for emerging technologies and business models.

Moreover, the GCCOSS will introduce independent rating systems and collaborate with standard-setting bodies to offer third-party certifications. Annual events, facilitated by the center with support from various stakeholders, will enhance advocacy and foster partnerships aligning with sustainable development goals. Geojit's visionary initiative at Cusat is set to shape the future of sustainability, education, and innovation in Kerala.
