Good response to Kozhikode Cyberpark.

The upcoming Cyberpark in Kozhikode, the third major IT destination in the State, is getting encouraging response from leading IT companies keen on setting up units there.

Ajith Kumar R Pillai, CEO, Cyberpark, said the response was overwhelming even as the Phase I construction of 2.88 lakh sq ft IT building is expected to be ready by December 2015. The civil construction and interior works of the Rs. 85-crore facility is being done by Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd.

Drawing parallels with Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark Kochi, he said Cyberpark is expected to make Kozhikode the next big IT destination of the State. Kozhikode Cyberpark hub will have Kannur and Kasargode as spokes for IT development of the Malabar region.

Kozhikode, according to him, offers immense potential for IT investment and development as a tier II destination with its entrepreneurial culture and long-standing connectivity to several Gulf countries.

'We have many IT plots on the 43-acre premises and are looking to develop at least six of them, ranging in 1 to 3 acres, jointly with major IT companies on the Kochi Infopark model,' he said.

On completion of the master plan and the entire park facilities, Pillai said, over 20,000 direct job opportunities will be created in various other categories of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, computer maintenance, computer hardware etc.

The State government had accorded highest priority to creating IT infrastructure by earmarking over 1,500 acres for IT parks in 10 locations.
