Government Boosts Aircraft Component Manufacturing in India.
India is set to formulate a comprehensive roadmap to advance aircraft component manufacturing, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced recently.
Speaking at a high-level meeting, the Minister assured industry stakeholders of the Centre’s commitment to strengthening the sector, emphasizing the need for a unified strategy.
India’s aircraft component industry is witnessing significant growth, driven by strategic partnerships with global aerospace firms and rising air travel demand. Major OEMs like Boeing and Airbus are increasingly sourcing components from India, with aerospace exports currently valued at under $2 billion, according to the Aerospace India Association (AIA).
As part of the government’s plan, a dual-pronged strategy will be implemented—expanding indigenous manufacturing through MSMEs while enhancing international market access for Indian component makers.
“It is imperative to build a comprehensive ecosystem—including skill development, design, manufacturing, maintenance, certification, and knowledge sharing—through collaboration between ministries, departments, and industry,” Naidu stated.
He further emphasized that India is poised to become a global hub for both civil aviation and aircraft component manufacturing, leveraging its talent pool and resources to achieve long-term strategic goals.
