Hamirpur-Una Rail Line gets Centre's Nod.
As the Central Government has given its nod for Una-Hamirpur railway line, Member of Parliament Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur claimed that the BJP Government, in the last three years, has given healthy rise in allocation of funds for railway connectivity in Himachal Pradesh.
The length of the railway line is 50 km and estimated to be constructed at the cost of Rs.2815 cr. Commenting on the approval for construction of Una-Hamirpur railway track, Thakur said, “In June 2016 the survey for Una–Hamirpur railway line was completed and in the budget presented on February 1 2017, the construction has been approved. This is a testimony of the Central Government’s growth oriented approach.”
It was a matter of great pride that Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency will become the first wherein all three districts will be connected through railway line, he added.
He said, “Road and rail connectivity is of utmost importance to the economy of Himachal Pradesh. With the construction of Una-Hamirpur railway line, the pressure of road transport is expected to ease considerably.”
Anurag claimed that BJP government had been giving utmost priority to rail and road connectivity and in the Union Budget 2017-18 close to Rs.400 crore have been sanctioned for railway construction, which in itself is a record. For Una–Talwara Rs. 100 crore and Bhanupali–Bilaspur–Beri Rs.250 crore have been sanctioned in this financial year. Even in the railway budget 2016-17 Rs.310 crore and Rs.355 crore were sanctioned in 2015-16.
