Highway projects worth Rs 16,680 cr cleared
New Delhi: Construction of ring roads, bypasses, flyovers, that are a part of National Highways under the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP)-VII, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 16,680 crore have been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs here. These projects would be built on a build operate transfer (toll) basis.
With this approval, NHAI can now start project preparation for the projects. “NHAI can now start preparing the detailed project reports for the projects,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Secretary, Mr Brahm Dutt, told Business Line when contacted.
Out of the Rs 16,680 crore required, Rs 10,378 crore would be invested by the private sector and Rs 6,302 crore by the Government. Mr Dutt added that since all the projects would be taken up on a BOT (toll) basis, the share of Government investment in the project has come down as compared to what was envisaged initially.
