Hitachi Energy India to Supply Critical Transformers for PGCIL Grid Expansion.
Hitachi Energy India announced recently that it has received a bulk order from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for the supply of 30 units of 765-kilovolt (kV) 500 megavolt-ampere (MVA) single-phase transformers.
This significant order comes at a crucial time as India intensifies its efforts towards a sustainable, flexible, and secure energy grid. The nation's ambitious energy transition, which includes the rapid integration of renewable energy sources and the electrification of industries and transportation, necessitates robust grid infrastructure.
The demand for power transformers in India has surged, experiencing a 15 percent annual increase over the past two years. To effectively meet this escalating demand for grid infrastructure, both domestically and globally, utilities are shifting their planning strategies from short-term, project-based approaches to more comprehensive, longer-term program-based frameworks.
