Hyderabad metro begins trial run to Hitec City.

Coinciding with first anniversary of Hyderabad metro rail project, L&T has begun trial runs on the stretch between Ameerpet and the IT hub of Hitec City on Metro Corridor-III.

A team of technical experts and engineers led by HMRL MD NVS Reddy and L&TMRHL MD KVB Reddy travelled on this stretch and observed the performanceduring trial run.

The stretch between Ameerpet and Hitec city is of 10 km with eight stations. Overcoming several technical challenges due to sharp curvatures and gradients and innumerable Court cases against acquisition of the affected properties, the completion of this stretch will facilitate Metro Rail access to the Hitec City area.

Since the train reversal facility beyond Hitec City station will take a few more months for completion, trains will be run in “twin single line method,” wherein the the train operations will function on double line railway track as two separate single lines.

This method, used by Railways under some special circumstances, will be followed till train reversal facility beyond Hitec City Metro Station is completed. Both conventional railway signalling systems and the highly sophisticated Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) system of Hyderabad Metro permit this type of twin single line train operations.
