IESA, MCCIA to set up electronic manufacturing cluster in Pune.
India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) to set up a electronic manufacturing cluster in Pune.
The MoU is part of the collaboration under which IESA is assisting Government of Maharashtra towards setting up a brownfield electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC).
This project will benefit more than 500 companies in and around Pune, said MCCIA.The new entity will assist the companies end to end solutions right from R&D, production, testing and measurement marketing to shipping.
The cluster is part of plan to set up such clusters at Bangalore, Chandigarh and Bhubaneshwar in the next one year by IESA and Department of Electronics and Information Technology. Each of these clusters would need an investment of Rs. 100 core and the focus areas would include auto electronics, defense electronics, instrumentation and agriculture. Facilities planned include test and measurement, prototyping, and calibration.
