INOX Air Products has announced the commissioning of a 280 tonnes per day (TPD) cryogenic air separation unit (ASU) at Tata Steel Limited’s electric arc furnace (EAF)-based steel facility in Ludhiana.
According to an official statement, the fully automated facility will supply gaseous oxygen, nitrogen, and argon required for steel production at the greenfield plant.
The commissioning is expected to strengthen INOX Air Products’ presence in northern India while expanding its liquid gas distribution network for key industrial gases. The company said the new unit will also enable it to serve industrial customers across the region through tanker-based supplies, improving logistics efficiency and reducing delivery lead times.
Commenting on the development, Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, said the plant will ensure an uninterrupted supply of high-purity gases for the EAF facility and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable steel manufacturing process. He added that the ASU will act as a strategic gateway for expanding liquid gas distribution across northern India.
The company further noted that the project will help strengthen localised industrial gas supply chains and reinforce its position as a key supplier to the steel sector.
