PepsiCo India to launch 3 projects in AP

Hyderabad: PepsiCo India has announced a series of initiatives in Andhra Pradesh. These include inauguration of a ‘Waste to Wealth’ project, a Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) and financial support to a water management initiative in Malkapur village.

These projects would be in partnership with the State Government, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and the corporate sector with people’s participation. PepsiCo India will be investing a sum of over Rs 30 lakh in the three projects.

The waste to wealth project would be grounded in the Sangareddy district in partnership with Exnora and the Sangareddy Municipality. This is the sixth such project in the country, according to a company press release.

Waste centre

PepsiCo has given a sum of Rs 19 lakhs for the construction of Zero Waste Centre in Sangareddy. In the first phase 10 wards, with a population of about 20,000, have been targeted by the Sangareddy Municipality and Exnora.

The Livelihood Resource Centre is an employment skill development initiative by the PepsiCo Foundation in association with CAP Foundation. The initiative aims at facilitating alternative livelihood to the rural youth — between the age group of 18-35 years — living below poverty line, by extending training in customer relations and hospitality management courses with spoken English and computer education.

The water management initiative is coming up in Malkapur village for a water supply project, providing financial support of Rs 9.4 lakh to the district for a water contract with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.
