Iran to opens a six large petrochem projects

Tehran: Six large petrochemical projects worth around $2 billion will officially come on stream today in Assaluyeh, Bushehr province.

The projects will add 3.14 million tons to the national petrochemicals output.

The sixth methanol unit (second phase of Zagros Petrochemical Complex) with the annual production capacity of 1.650 million tons is the major completed project.

The unit comes on stream at the cost of $440 million.

The special petrochemicals export terminal of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) with the shipment capacity of 35 million tons per year is the second project which cost $864 million.

The butadiene unit of Jam Petrochemical Complex with the production capacity of 245,000 tons per annum, industrial wastewater treatment facility of Mobin Petrochemical Complex, the air separation facility of Mobin Petrochemical Complex, and the ethylbenzene and styrene monomer producing units of Pars Petrochemical Complex with the output capacity of 1.245 million tons per year are the other projects which were inaugurated at the cost of $720 million in total.

Currently, the nation’s petrochemical production capacity stands at 44.73 million tons per year.

Once these 6 projects come on stream the amount would be raised to 47.87 million tons.

The projects will generate 1,600 direct jobs and some 20,000 indirect jobs.
