Kings Infra Ventures Ltd, a prominent seafood processing firm based in Kochi, is set to broaden its presence in European Union markets as part of its ambitious business development strategy. The company has announced the appointment of Jesus Vicente Piero Sos as Business Development Advisor in Spain, signaling its intent to bolster its seafood business across Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, and other European nations.

Shaji Baby John, CMD of Kings Infra Ventures Ltd, highlighted the rationale behind this strategic move in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges: "Establishing a robust presence in Europe is crucial for enhancing communication and sustaining engagement with importers, distributors, and retailers." He emphasized that the appointment aims to introduce 'Head-on-Shell' Vannamei and Black Tiger shrimps into key European markets.

John noted that Kings Infra Ventures Ltd already holds a significant position in the EU market, having supplied high-quality cuttlefish, squids, and octopus for several years.

"Europe has traditionally been a major market for Indian shrimps and cephalopods," John continued. He mentioned the recent participation at Seafood Expo 2024 in Barcelona, where the company forged connections with leading importers and distributors from across Europe. Discussions during the expo addressed the decline in Indian seafood imports to the EU in 2023, attributed in part to logistical challenges arising from the Red Sea crisis.

"European standards for shrimp imports, especially zero tolerance for residual antibiotics and heavy metals, are stringent," John acknowledged. Currently, Ecuador and other South American countries dominate the Head-On-Shrimps market in Europe.

He disclosed plans to dedicate a specialized production line at their Tuticorin factory exclusively for the European market, ensuring compliance with the EU's rigorous quality standards.
