"Kochi Metro Phase II Receives Additional INR 24 Crore Funding"
Kochi Metro's Phase II project, connecting JLN Stadium to Kakkanad, has received a financial boost as the state government approved an additional fund of Rs. 24 crore. The funds are designated for the preparatory works spanning from JLN Stadium to Palarivattom, supplementing the initial sanction of Rs 354.57 crore for the overall preparatory efforts, including land acquisition for the 11.2km Pink Line extension. With this revision, the total administrative sanction now stands at Rs. 378.57 crore, facilitating the completion of essential works on the JLN Stadium to Palarivattom stretch. The elevated corridor will feature 11 stations, contributing to the expansion of Kochi Metro's network in the region. Stations along this stretch include JLN Stadium, Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamugal, Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ (Special Economic Zone), Chittethukara, Kinfra, and InfoPark/Smart City. The government has already released a portion of the allotted amount, with the remainder expected to be disbursed soon. KMRL authorities anticipate accelerated progress in land acquisition and preparatory activities in the Palarivattom area following the additional funding allocation."
