KPCL to add 2,300 MW to State grid in a year.
The power-starved State is set to add 2,300 MW of thermal power to its grid within a year, according to Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. (KPCL) Managing Director M. Maheshwar Rao.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme organised by KPCL to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava, Mr. Rao said this includes 1,600 MW of power to be added from Yermarus Thermal Power Station which would have two generating stations with a capacity of 800 MW each. This new thermal station would be commissioned next year, he said.
Similarly, the third generating unit of the KPCL's Bellary Thermal Power Station with a capacity of 700 MW would also become operational from next year, he said.
