Krishna river water to be released to Gajuladinne project.

District Collector S. Satyanarayana recetly directed the Irrigation Department to release the Krishna water from the Handri Neeva main canal to the Gajuladinne project.

Inspecting the Kothapalli HNSS main canal near the Pandikona reservoir, Mr. Satyanarayana said that owing to deficit rainfall and drought-like conditions in Kurnool district, steps were being taken to have sufficient water under the project.

The efforts were being made so that people would have access to drinking water during summer and don’t face any kind of shortage. “By storing water, we can deal with the possible shortage of drinking water in Kurnool, Dhone and Yemmiganur. If fields face shortage of water, we will supply them with water by digging a feeder channel,” he added.

Mr. Satyanarayana directed the department to ensure that 3.5 TMC feet (thousand million cubic feet) of the river water was stored under the project.

Irrigation Department CE Narayana Reddy, SE Ramachandramurthy, Municipal Commissioner Harinatha Reddy and Adoni RDO Ramamurthy took part in the inspection.
