KTPS Unit 12 boiler light-up test proves successful.
The Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (TS-Genco) has successfully conducted the boiler light up test for the unit 12 (1X800 MW) at the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) in Palvancha town on Wednesday.
The event marked a significant milestone towards commissioning the KTPS’s ambitious 800 MW supercritical unit under Stage-VII.
A festive atmosphere prevailed at the KTPS complex soon after the boiler light up test was carried out successfully in the presence of TS-Genco Chairman and Managing Director D. Prabhakar Rao on Wednesday morning.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao called up Mr. Prabhakar Rao and congratulated his team on achieving the major milestone.
Later, talking to reporters Mr. Prabhakar Rao said the 800 MW supercritical unit will be synchronised with the State grid in March and start commercial operation by May this year to augment power generation capacity in the State.
Work on the 1080 MW (4X270 MW) Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (BTPS) at Manuguru is progressing at a brisk pace, he said, adding that plans were afoot to synchronise two units of the BTPS with the grid by this year-end and another two by April next year.
TS-Genco Director (Projects) C. Radhakrishna, Director (Thermal) M. Sachidanandam, Executive Director (Civil/Thermal) A. Ajay, officials of the BHEL, the implementing agency, among others, were present.
