Maharashtra Attracts ₹900-Crore Magnum Investment in Push to Become Global Ice Cream Hub.

Maharashtra is set to strengthen its position as a key destination for global business operations after The Magnum Ice Cream Company unveiled plans to establish a ₹900-crore Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Pune and a regional headquarters in Mumbai for its Middle East, Turkey and South Asia (METSA) operations.

The proposed investments received a boost this week after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Peter ter Kulve, Chief Executive Officer of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, in Mumbai to discuss the company's expansion plans in the state.

According to Fadnavis, discussions focused on setting up the company's Mumbai headquarters to oversee its Middle East, Turkey and South Asia operations, as well as the progress of the planned Pune-based GCC and future areas of collaboration.

"It was an absolute delight to meet the CEO of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, Peter ter Kulve, in Mumbai today. Our discussion focused on establishing the Mumbai headquarters for the company's Middle East, Turkey and South Asia operations, growth plans for India, progress on the development of the GCC and other areas of future co-operation," Fadnavis said in a social media post following the meeting.

The planned investments are expected to enhance Maharashtra's appeal as a hub for multinational corporations while reinforcing the state's ambitions to emerge as a major centre for the global ice cream and food processing industry.

The move also underscores the growing importance of India in Magnum's global growth strategy, with Mumbai and Pune poised to play key roles in the company's regional operations and technology capabilities.
