Mahindra Agri in joint venture with Sumitomo.

Mahindra Agri Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, recently entered into a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation Group of Japan for expanding its crop solutions business. Among other products the joint venture will manufacture and market pesticides for major crops in the country.

Mahindra will hold 60 per cent in the joint venture, called Mahindra Summit Agriscience Ltd, with the balance being held by Sumitomo.

MD and CEO of Mahindra Agri, Ashok Sharma told media persons at a press conference that the joint venture's main investment would be in building a pan India distribution network for its products. It would be offering pesticides and insecticides for crops such as rice, cotton and grapes.
