Marico Foundation Set to Drive Innovation in the Plastics Sector
Marico Innovation Foundation (MIF), established in 2003 under the guidance of Marico Ltd's chairman, Harsh Mariwala, with a primary focus on fostering innovation in both business and social domains, is now directing its attention towards the realm of plastics.
In an online interaction with businessline, Suranjana Ghosh, the CEO of MIF, highlighted the foundation's recognition of plastics as a sector with immense potential. Ghosh expressed Marico's commitment to being a proactive contributor to addressing plastic-related challenges, stating, "We (Marico) are a consumer company that uses a lot of plastic. We want it to be part of the solution and not just the perpetrators of the problem. So we worked with the Indian Institute of Science and Praxis Global Alliance to come up with a report or playbook called the potential and possibilities of plastic."
This move by MIF signifies a strategic approach to engage with the challenges posed by plastics, aligning with a broader commitment to sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship. By collaborating with academic and research institutions, Marico Foundation aims to drive innovation in the plastics sector, positioning itself as a catalyst for positive change in addressing environmental concerns associated with plastic usage.
