"MG Motor and HPCL Partner to Boost EV Charging Infrastructure"

MG Motor India announced on Wednesday its collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure nationwide.

Under this partnership, MG and HPCL will jointly install 50kW/60kW DC fast chargers at strategic locations, including highways and urban areas across India. This initiative aims to provide greater convenience to EV users by increasing the availability of chargers for long-distance and intercity travel.

"HPCL's vast network and significant presence in India will ensure that existing and prospective EV users across the country have convenient access to our charging solutions," stated Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of MG Motor India.

Rajdip Ghosh, Chief General Manager of Highway Retailing at HPCL, emphasized the company's commitment to a sustainable future. "With a nationwide network of over 22,000 fuel stations, HPCL is dedicated to providing green fuel to customers. We aim to install 5,000 electric vehicle charging stations by December 2024," he noted.

Ghosh also highlighted the strategic advantage of the partnership, saying, "Through this collaboration with MG Motor India, HPCL will leverage MG's vehicle base to increase the utilization of its chargers installed across India."

This collaboration marks a significant step towards supporting the growth of EV adoption in India by ensuring reliable and widespread access to charging infrastructure.
