Ministry of Petroleum is setting up a synthetic gas and fertilizer plant at Talcher and Paradip

Ministry of Petroleum is setting up an integrated coal gasification-cum-fertiliser production facility at Talcher with an investment of 8,000 crore. Synthesis gas (syngas) and fertiliser will be produced at the plant using a new technology provided by Shell Global.

The ministry has announced that another project is envisaged at Paradip where gas will be produced from pet-coke and coal. The new project will cost around Rs 11,000 crore.
