"Musashi Aims for 25% Market Share in EV Transmission Components by 2028"

Musashi India, a subsidiary of the renowned Japanese auto parts giant Musashi Seimitsu Industries, is gearing up to carve a significant niche in the electric vehicle (EV) market. The company has set an ambitious target of securing a 25% market share for transmission components specifically designed for electric two-wheelers by the year 2028.

Toshihisa Otsuka, Chief Executive Officer for the Asia and Africa region, highlighted the expansive vision, stating, "We're looking for market share not only in India but also in Indonesia, Thailand, and Africa. We already have substantial factories in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. So, we will be seeking investments for the assembly line once customer demand reaches 100,000 units."

Musashi India has committed an investment of Rs. 70 crore in its electric vehicle business and plans to inject an additional Rs. 100 crore in the next two to three years. The allocated funds will be utilized to establish new assembly lines dedicated to EV transmission components and to enhance existing facilities, ensuring scalability and efficiency in production.

In a strategic move, Musashi recently entered into a joint venture (JV) with Delta Electronics and Toyota Tsusho Corporation to collectively market EV drive units tailored for two-wheelers. Musashi holds the majority share with 51%, while Delta and Toyota Tsusho own 34% and 15%, respectively. This collaboration aims to harness the collective expertise of the three companies, focusing on the development of cutting-edge EV drive units. Toyota Tsusho will oversee distribution through its extensive global logistics network.

The proactive approach and substantial investments underline Musashi's commitment to playing a pivotal role in the rapidly evolving landscape of electric mobility. With a keen eye on market expansion and a strategic alliance in place, Musashi is poised to contribute significantly to the advancement of EV technology in the specified regions.
