Nepal's small town gets new power plant

Kathmandu: A micro hydro project with the capacity of 35 KW has recently been established at Chhalgadh of Tripurakot in Dolpa with joint initiatives of World Wildlife Fund, US Aid and locals. The project has provided electricity to 180 households of Ward No 1, 2 and 3.


Earlier, the Fund had extended ele-ctricity to 149 households of Ward No 4, 5 and 6 of Rum. Similarly, pe-ople from 108 houses of Chaurik-harka, Ward No 5 of Solokhumbu also benefited from a project of 70 KW. WWF, Kaduri Agricultural Association, Sagarmatha National Park Buffer Zone Committee and UK had assisted the project.
