New bridge to be constructed in Laghman

Jalalabad: A 200 metres long bridge to be constructed on Mehtarlam River with the assistance of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Ministry (MRRD) at a total cost of $350000 in the eastern Laghman province, an official said on Tuesday.

Provincial chief of the department Eng. Aminuddin Baidar told Pajhwok Afghan News construction work of the five metres wide bridge has been initiated and would be completed in a year.

At least 5000 families residing at other side of the River in Niaz area would benefit from the project, he added.

A dweller of the area Haji Zabardast told this news agency after extending the bridge on the river they would have easy access to other areas.

Similarly, two other projects of the National Solidarity Program (NSP) were completed in the Sangtoda and Abziou villages of the district.

Provincial NSP head Eng. Hamayun Akseer informed two projects of water and power supply, costing 3 million afghanis, just completed and would benefit around 500 families of the regions.
