Nod for re-laying AIIMS-Ashram road.

The around 5-km-long stretch of the Ring Road from All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) till Ashram in south Delhi would soon be strengthened, with the government sanctioning the project.

On Monday, the Expenditure Finance Committee approved the ₹15 crore project to strengthen the busy section of the road. The project will be carried out by the PWD.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said in a tweet: “Chaired Expenditure-Finance committee (EFC) meeting today. Imp decision included approval of 'Project to strengthen Ring road from AIIMS to Ashram' costing ₹15 cr. (sic)”

Government sources said that the project would cover the re-surfacing of the road. Currently there are many portions of the stretch with potholes, with heavy traffic and ongoing construction affecting the condition.

The PWD, which maintains about 1,260 km of Delhi’s arterial roads, had last carried out a major resurfacing project before the Commonwealth Games in 2010. The resurfacing of PWD roads was started earlier this year, with 20 major stretches in south Delhi.
