NTPC awaits land identification for 4,000 MW Telangana plant.

NTPC is awaiting identification of land by the Telangana government and establishment of coal linkage by the Coal Ministry for setting up a 4,000 MW power plant in the new state.

State-owned NTPC is to establish a 4,000 MW power plant in Telangana as per the 13th Schedule of the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act.

'NTPC is awaiting identification of land by Government of Telangana and establishment of coal linkage by Ministry of Coal, Government of India,' Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal recently informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also requested the Prime Minister for additional 500 MW power from NTPC for at least three years out of the central pool.

As of June end, the allocation to Telangana from central generating stations stood at 1,992 MW.
