One stretch of Shiradi ghat concretisation to be over by May-end.
Work on concretising the 13-km stretch of Shiradi Ghat section on National Highway no. 75, which connects Mangaluru with Bengaluru, is likely to be completed by May-end, according to an official.
C Nataraj, Executive Engineer of National Highway division in Mangaluru, told presspersons recently that a Mangaluru-based agency has taken up the work on concretising the 13-km stretch on Shiradi ghat stretch. Taken up at a cost of Rs. 69.9 crore, the work is expected to be completed by May-end, he said.
Stating that preliminary work on the project has already begun, he said the major works will be initiated from January 2. Considering the work involved in implementing the project, it has been decided to stop vehicular traffic on Shiradi ghat stretch from January 2, he said.
The process of awarding the tender for another stretch of 21 km will be completed by this month-end. This stretch of work will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 85.28 crore, he said.
The State government is taking the help of technical experts such as RK Jain and VV Pandey for concretising the Shiradi ghat stretch of National Highway no. 75.
