Pedder Road flyover gets CRZ clearance.
The Union environment ministry has given the crucial Coastal Regulation Zone clearance for construction of the 4.2-km-long Pedder Road flyover. But residents have challenged the order in the National Green Tribunal.
Planned in 2000, work on the Pedder Road viaduct has been delayed due to objection from locals, including legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
An official from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which is executing the project, said, 'The ministry gave the CRZ nod on September 4. A decision on when to begin work will be taken after assembly election as the code of conduct is in effect till October 19.'
