The master plan to develop one of the three industrial cities in the upcoming Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) will be ready by March, 2015, according to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
JICA, an independent agency of the Government of Japan, has so far offered loan assistance to over 70 projects in India, including the prestigious Delhi-Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor, Delhi Metro and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridors.
“We just started preparing development plan for three industrial towns, one each in all the three states, namely Tumkur in Karnataka, Ponneri in Tamil Nadu and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The Krishnapatnam plan will be completed by March,” Ichiguchi Tomohide, Deputy Chief Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency, told Express. Tomohide, who was part of a high-level Japanese delegation that met AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently said the proposed industrial cities will include both residential and commercial units.
'This is just a study, but after the study we will proceed with the actual development technical expertise required,' Tomohide said adding that the quantum of loan assistance will be determined only after examining the infrastructure requirements.
