"PM Modi Inaugurates Two Stretches of Bengaluru Metro"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone on Friday as he inaugurated two stretches of the east-west corridor of the Bengaluru Metro. The inauguration took place through a video conference, with the newly opened Baiyappanahalli to Krishnarajapura and Kengeri to Challaghatta segments on the Bengaluru Metro Purple Line becoming fully operational on October 9. These extensions were made accessible to the public without the need for a formal inauguration.
The addition of these new segments has substantially increased the operational length of 'Namma Metro' to a total of 74 kilometers, encompassing 66 stations. This expansion has led to a daily ridership of over 7.5 lakh passengers.
Bengaluru's 'Namma Metro' has now emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country, making it an integral part of the city's urban transportation infrastructure. Specifically, the east-west corridor, known as the Purple Line, now boasts a combined length of 43.49 kilometers, featuring a total of 37 stations. These enhancements are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and mobility for the residents of Bengaluru.
