Proposed Rs. 5000 crore Vizhinjam international deepwater port project gets five bidders.

The proposed Rs. 5100 crore international deepwater multipurpose project at Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram has received five bids from national and international companies for the global tender floated Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. for the development and operation of the port.


The company MD and CEO A.S Suresh Babu said all the bidders are from the port sector. Three Indian companies Gamon Infrastructure, Essar Ports and Adani Ports and two foreign consortiums Hyundai Concast and Srei and OHL have bid for the tender.

Suresh Babu said the transaction advisor Ernst &Young will evaluate the bids and send the request for proposal to the bidders in two three days. The final bidder will be selected in a few months.

The project eligible for viability gap funding from the Centre has received the cleareance from the Environment Ministry.
