Rangasamy to discuss IT park, SEZ issue with Modi.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy recently announced in the Assembly that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold discussions with him on the proposed Information Technology park and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Union Territory.
Replying to a question raised by Congress MLA K. Lakshminarayanan, Mr. Rangasamy said he would persuade the Centre to approve the plan to establish an IT park and an SEZ at Mettupalayam under the Public Private Partnership mode.
The initiative taken by the government in the past were in vain. The land identified by the government at Pillaichavady for the establishment of an IT park was allocated to the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for setting up a Technology Development Centre to provide training to youth.
Congress Legislator E. Valsaraj suggested to the Chief Minister to hold a global investors meet here and showcase the scope available in Puducherry for Information Technology.
Mr. Rangasamy welcomed the suggestion and assured him that he would talk to the officials concerned during his visit to Delhi.
