The construction of the Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section, spanning approximately 5 km under Corridor-1 (IIT to Naubasta) of the Kanpur Metro Rail project, is advancing swiftly. Progress reports indicate that out of the planned 276 pillars for this section, a significant milestone has been achieved with the completion of 200 pillars. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) accomplished the casting of the 200th pillar on Monday night, marking a noteworthy achievement in the project timeline.
This elevated section will feature five metro stations, namely Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Boudh Nagar, and Naubasta. The completion of the pillars represents a crucial step in the overall construction process, setting the stage for the subsequent phases of the project.
Sushil Kumar, the managing director of UPMRC, expressed congratulations to the project's engineers for their commendable progress. He stated, “The civil construction of Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section of Kanpur Metro project is going on at a fast pace. We have completed 200 piers of this section, and soon the work of all pile caps and pier caps will also get completed. After starting commercial service on the priority section (IIT Kanpur to Motijheel) within the stipulated time in December 2021, we are now progressing in time in the balance sections of Corridor-I.”
