RINL to complete commissioning of 6.3 million tonne phase by September.

Times of India reported that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant would soon complete the major expansion project taken up at a cost of around INR 12,500 crore, with state-run steel major Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited expected to complete commissioning of its 6.3 million tonne per annum expansion project by September.

Mr. P Madhusudan, CMD of RINL, said that 'We have completed commissioning of all units except 2 rolling mills a special bar mill and structural mill. The commissioning will be completed in the first half of the fiscal.'

According to RINL sources, blast furnace-3, steel melting shop-2 and converter have been commissioned along with continuous casting machines and sinter plant 3. The thermal power units have also been commissioned along with water, power and utility systems.

RINL sources said that following the completion of the expansion it would take around one year for production to be on full steam.
