"Royal Enfield Announces ₹3,000 Crore Investment in Tamil Nadu for Product Development"

Royal Enfield, a prominent motorcycle manufacturer and a unit of Eicher Motors Ltd, has unveiled plans for a substantial investment of ₹3,000 crore over an eight-year period in Tamil Nadu. This strategic investment aims at the development of new products and is anticipated to generate approximately 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Tamil Nadu government during the Global Investors Meet outlines the allocation of investments for greenfield and brownfield projects, among other initiatives. The funding will primarily be utilized for the development of new products, Electric Vehicles (EVs) product development, capacity building, and potential capacity enhancement for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) as needed.

Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan, in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin, exchanged documents with Tamil Nadu Industries Department Secretary V Arun Roy during the GIM 2024. Govindarajan expressed gratitude to Tamil Nadu, stating, "Tamil Nadu has been our home, an anchor for our engineering, technical, and manufacturing foundations for several decades. This strategic investment in Tamil Nadu marks a significant milestone for us at Royal Enfield."

The MoU outlines key provisions, including infrastructural support and regulatory facilitation, with the government prioritizing uninterrupted power supply and other essential infrastructure support.

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu for their unwavering support, and we are eager to partner with the government and create a positive impact on the community and contribute to the state's overall economic prosperity," Govindarajan added.

With manufacturing facilities in Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal, Royal Enfield aims to strengthen its production capabilities through the upcoming expansion, further contributing to Tamil Nadu's status as a major automotive hub.
