Rs. 480 crore aid for state-run medical colleges.

The cabinet committee on economic affairs has approved a financial assistance of Rs. 480 crore for the upgrade of government-run medical colleges in Aurangabad, Latur, Akola and Yavatmal under the PM's Swathya Sewa Yojana (PMSSY). Each college will get Rs. 120 crore, while the state will have to contribute Rs. 30 crore.

'It's the biggest-ever financial assistance package from the Centre for medical colleges' upgrade. We have been asked to allocate Rs. 30 crore for each college as the state's share. All formalities will be completed within stipulated time,' Vijaykumar Gavit, medical education minister said.
